About Us
About Me:
I am an entrepreneur, traveler, and self-proclaimed mom-on-the-go. I had my son Tommy two years ago and quickly learned that while showing him the world was SO FUN, packing for the adventure was... not so much.
I learned that a diaper bag isn’t big enough for a 3+ night stay anywhere, and packing dozens of tiny baby items in traditional luggage led to stress and chaos throughout the trip.
I wanted to find a way to easily pack, access, and transport all the little things my little one needed, but when I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I made one myself.
I invented the Packaboo! It’s a travel system that hangs on the back of a closet door and contains small and medium, easy to access pockets for all the things babies and toddlers need when traveling. The pockets are elastic-lined on top to keep items secure yet accessible during travel, and when you're ready to go, simply fold it up and add it to your luggage.
The Packaboo has made traveling with Tommy so much easier, and I’m excited to help other parents pack for trips with their little ones, whether you’re going around the world (or just to grandma’s house).
Our Story:
As a mom who loves to travel, I knew that including my baby (now toddler!) on trips was a priority, but I didn’t realize how tricky it would be to pack/unpack/repack all of his little things. It was a problem, but luckily (like most moms and dads), I am a problem-solver.
The Inspiration: I took to the internet, and I saw a video on social media using a cheap, behind-the-door shoe organizer to hold baby toys, clothes, and diapers. A lightbulb went off, and I thought, “I could do that… but what if I made it better?” Using the shoe organizer, I found that items would fall out of the pockets in transport, and it lacked the aesthetic appeal of the rest of my luggage (to say the least). It was clunky and ugly. There was a lot of room for improvement, so I got to work.
The Prototype: I made my first prototype of the Packaboo in my living room using velcro strips, a shoe organizer, and a hot glue gun. It was a sloppy start, but I was on to something! I used the prototype on trips to Denver and to Disney, and I learned a lot about what worked well and what could be better. Since then I have met with designers, manufacturers, and a lot of my mom friends to perfect the Packaboo’s design and features.
Our first Hiccup: We launched a Kickstarter Campaign in Spring of 2023, and though there was a lot of enthusiasm around the bag, unfortunately we didn’t meet our goal. We thanked our supporters, took a beat, and went back to the drawing board - quite literally - to improve a few features and find a new distributor so we could lower our prices.
And we’re back baby! This time with a new and improved Packaboo! Now there are larger pockets on top for growing kids, and the pockets are light colored to make it easier to see what’s inside. We are also able to offer the Packaboo for $149.99 and can mail directly to you! We’ve never been so proud of our product, and we can’t wait to get it into the already very full arms of traveling parents everywhere. Let’s travel, baby!
